Who would have thought that the passionate jewelry maker (and owner) of Jewelegance actually started to pursue her craft at the tender age of thirteen? She was then doing needlepoint and eagerly expanded her knowledge by attending local and national classes.
Taking a closer peek at her work life, Beth Weld currently works as a computer programmer by day and handcrafts jewelry for family, friends and customers on her leisure hours (usually at night and on weekends). Driven by her passion for jewelry making, she took classes at the Royal School of Needlework in England. Beading first intrigued her when a needlepointer taught her to bead using peyote stitch about fifteen years ago. From then on, she started to learn about and create jewelry with peyote and other stitches. Beth spent four years concentrating on chain maille and wirework. Then four years ago, she took a class that introduced her to a newfound interest: kumihimo.
The quest to master her craft did not end there for Beth. She seized other opportunities to expand her knowledge by attending classes with national teachers and coming across more advanced techniques. At present, she loves to combine various beading, wire and kumihimo techniques to produce the most elegant pieces of jewelry that happy customers have been checking out from the Jewelegance shop. Most of Beth's works are unique and it simply thrills her to work on custom jewelry orders that reflect the personal taste of her customers.
Beth Weld now teaches kumihimo and other jewelry techniques at various shops and gives private lessons, too.
